Looking for a BCBS GA PCP...

  • Dec. 29th, 2009 at 1:31 PM
My husband is in need of a PCP, and we are looking for recommendations. He has BCBS of GA insurance, and would prefer a male doctor somewhere in the midtown-to-Emory area. I read back and we looked at the post in November about this same subject, but most of those Dr's were female and/or not in the ideal location. Just wanted to check and see if anyone had any other recommendations?

Found Dr. Robert E Springer (http://www.springerwellpath.com/) via yelp and he looks promising - does anyone have any experience with him? The location is good, but the only things I've read about him were allergy-related, and he needs a broad spectrum visit - a physical/wellness visit plus some specific issues.

Thanks so much for any suggestions anyone has!

Clear vs. Comcast

  • Dec. 28th, 2009 at 6:29 PM
For Christmas I got a laptop and a 360. So now I need internet at home, but I'm torn between the options. I'd like to avoid Comcast, but I don't know anything about Clear (other than it's definitely cheaper), especially in regards to how well it'll perform for the 360.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Or have any other avenues I could look into?

How right (or not) my predictions were!!

  • Dec. 28th, 2009 at 1:23 PM

"Death might be top. Why shit it?" - Liam Gallagher.

So with the association football season about halfway through, lets revisit my predictions a week before they started in August and illustrate why I am not never have been and never will be a gambler:

FA Premier League champions: Manchester United. (Current placing: 2nd)
FA Cup winners: Liverpool. (Not played in cup yet but still unlikely).
Carling Cup winners: Arsenal. (Knocked out in quarter-finals).
Championship winners: Ipswich Town. (Current placing: 21st out of 24).
League One winners: Leyton Orient. (Current placing: 20th out of 24).
League Two winners: Bradford City. (Current placing: 14th out of 24).

Champions' League winners: Inter Milan. (Play Chelsea in quarter-finals in February).

Think about this before you listen to any whacko telling you the Mayans said that the world will end in 2012 just as Nosradamus told him we'd be dead in 1999!

Peace be upon you,

Sir_Red_Joe.

I received an old-fashioned safety razor for Christmas, and I need to purchase some blades to go with it.  I can get them on line, but if can find a place around North Decatur that carries them, so much the better.  So far the supermarkets are a no go.

And if you have to ask, proper face prep, lathering, and about ten minutes of short stead strokes means as close a shave as I ever get.  More work?  Yes.  More cuts? Fewer with practice.  Less razor burn?  Yes.

Replacing a car key & fob

  • Dec. 27th, 2009 at 8:36 PM
Sometime on Christmas, the only time I left the house this weekend, my key and fob for my Saturn L series came off the keychain and disappeared.

I've looked for it, as did my hosts with whom I celebrated to no avail.

So my question now is, O Wise [info]atlanta-ites:

Where do I find a good locksmith in the Marietta area (somewhere near the Big Chicken ideally) to create me a new key and get me a new fob?

I am down to the uh-oh key and that is not meant for long term use, so time is of the essence.
HI. I HAVE THINGS TO SAY. There's been goings-on on the internets and I have a lot of feelings.

SO LET'S MAKE THIS AN

Memories~

  • Dec. 26th, 2009 at 5:33 AM
So, I stumbled upon this memory book a couple of months ago. But I only take down my scanner once every 6 months. And today was that day. So I'm FINALLY posting this. Only, like, 3 months late.

7 year old Raye.

ahoy! spelling errors! )

So there you go. I got 2 and a half hours left of night phones. I watched The Wizard for the first time with Buttons tonight. It was hilarious. I had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas. Just very chill and a lot of love. And lots of food and intelligent conversation. And TYLER AND CAROLYN GOT ENGAGED OMG. I'll post a list of swag I got later. I'll probably have to make two posts because I might get presents when I'm in Wisconsin.

Don't sleep.
Don't eat.
Don't not answer phones.

Well, 2009, I'm glad to see you go. It's been such a wonderful year in so many ways but it seems like I actively tried to ruin my life from April onwards in so many ways. This year, I lost my mind and I don't think it's back yet, but that's something to deal with in 2010. Fuck you, 00's, you're over.

Grump passed away on Monday. More like a father to me than anyone and by far one of the best men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He touched so many lives in so many ways and everyone I know who knew him remembers him fondly. We have relatives of the man who stole my grandmother away from him sending their condolences because they remember how wonderful he was. He was by and large an English gentleman to the core, and there is nothing more heartbreaking to me than not having him around anymore. However, it was such a long, drawn out battle.. first pneumonia four or five times and then finally, rapid bloodloss.. My family has been grieving for almost a year now, solely because every time he was on the brink, it really seemed like it would be final. Then he'd bounce back (at one point, his kidneys were shutting down. A week later, they were better than before) and things would go back to semi-normal.

Finally, though, he started losing blood, and we all knew that it was pretty much it, because there was no way to find out exactly what was going wrong. He was too weak for tests and we didn't want to put him through more surgeries for no clear result. Then he ended up on palliative care and we all sort of said our goodbyes without outright stating it; we'd go in and spend hours just sitting with him and talking. Soon after, he stopped eating and drinking. It got harder and harder to go see him because he kept getting thinner and thinner. Finally, he stopped waking up. Two days later, we got the call at 5am.. I was still up and as soon as I heard the ring, I knew what had happened, and we all spent the day dealing with the funeral home, etc. No funeral or memorial, just an urn.

And that's it. We're all thankful he's gone solely because he didn't want to live anymore. He hasn't for awhile.. he barely had his eyesight (macular degeneration) and he couldn't really move.. there was no pleasure in life anymore. Whatever happens after you die, I hope it's peaceful and if possible, he's happy. That's all I really want to believe.

It's no damn secret that I truly do love cheesy pop music and will freely admit this and force it upon HARDCORE "OMG FUCK THAT SHIT" types until their ears bleed... so here's one of my favorites from back in like 1999/2000, totally forgot about it until it just randomly played on my custom "Backstreet Boys" pandora station:

I NEVER FOUND THE WORDS TO SAAAAAY

They're totally rocking long furry-ish coats, and big furry boots...
FUCK, ITS OBVIOUS I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THIS VIDEO. ;D

</popstar>

Okay, so those of you who share my love of the pop-cheese, POST YOUR FAVORITE SONGS/VIDEOS in the comments!!
